Dorin Zorila, artiste designer, a racheté des dizaines de portes de l’ancien bâtiment historique, détruit en 2021 et a pensé plusieurs modèles de tables. Il fait courir sa main sur le bois brut de l’imposante porte, s’arrête sur les profondes rainures et les pièces métalliques. «Cette pièce, c’est un bout d’histoire incroyable, des vies ont été enfermées derrière pendant des années. La matière nous raconte des choses», révèle Dorin Zorila, artisan du BTP et artiste designer.
En 2021, cet entrepreneur d’origine moldave a acquis pour quelques milliers d’euros des machines industrielles d’atelier, des équipements sportifs mais aussi une quarantaine de portes en bois de l’historique centre pénitentiaire des Baumettes, démoli en 2021. Plus de deux mètres de hauteurs, 90 centimètres de large, près d’une cinquantaine de kilos chacune, ces portes qu’il manie avec une aisance impressionnante sont «ses trésors».
«Quand on a enlevé les tôles en métal qui étaient côté cellule, on a même retrouvé derrière certains noms de prisonniers, des effets personnels et des règlements intérieurs», détaille Dorin Zorila, certains de ces documents dans les mains.
