resonance of shadows interacts with its environment
Plastique Fantastique and Pablo Diserens unveil Resonance of Shadows, a mobile installation presented over three weeks as part of the OUT OF THE BOX FESTIVAL. The project explores the interplay of light, movement, and sound, creating an immersive experience that transforms its surroundings during a journey of discovery across Bavaria.
Designed as a series of evolving chapters, the installation reacts to its environment in real time. When squeezed beneath tree canopies, the translucent sphere captures and distorts the shadows of branches, producing a surreal, oneiric landscape where nature, architecture, and public space merge.

As the organic forms of the trees merge with the fluidity of the structure, visitors find themselves enveloped in an ever-shifting spectacle of reflections and silhouettes. This ephemeral setting invites an evolving interplay of silhouettes and reflections, dissolving boundaries between reality and illusion, permanence and impermanence.
In another chapter, the translucent sphere takes center stage as a performance space. Inside, musicians cast their shadows onto its surface, their distorted silhouettes becoming part of the installation’s visual language. At a climactic moment, the structure bursts open, releasing the performers and marking the beginning of a theatrical sequence.
For Resonance of Shadows, the artist duo Plastique Fantastique collaborates with sound artist Pablo Diserens whose field recordings of nature throughout Bavaria set the tune to the choreography and shadowplay by Ceren Oran. Music is composed by Gregor Hübner and performed by the Munich Composers Collective and Trondheim Voices Ensembles across the different chapters.
